Historical Fall Festival To Feature Iowa History Bus

Peterson, Iowa — Every year the Prairie Heritage Center between Sutherland and Peterson has a Fall Festival. But this year, in addition to their regular activities, a mobile museum of sorts is headed for the Prairie Heritage Center.

O’Brien County Naturalist Elyea tells us that the O’Brien County Conservation Board is offering an opportunity to step back in time with the Historical Fall Fest held on Saturday, September 22 at the Prairie Heritage Center. She says you can spend an afternoon on the prairie enjoying pioneer games and crafts. Take a horse-drawn wagon ride through the tall grass to the pioneer cemetery. Sample fresh-pressed apple cider and popcorn. AND, you can step aboard the Iowa History 101 Bus.

Again, the Historical Fall Fest will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. But the history bus will be there not only on Saturday, but starting on Thursday and staying through Sunday. Again the hours for the Iowa history bus are noon to 4 on Thursday, 9 to 4 on Friday and 1 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday.
