Sheldon, Iowa — The Iowa Association of Realtors has released its report for June, and President Cindy Miller of Burlington says it’s a record breaker.
June is typically one of the busiest months for home sales, but statewide, more homes sold in Iowa this June than in any month before.
Here in northwest Iowa, Denny De Jong of Security Realty in Sheldon says local sales are pretty much on pace with the state statistics.
De Jong says there are seasonal fluctuations in home sales here in northwest Iowa, since nobody wants to move in the wintertime.
He says there is a downside, however. With the number of homes sold locally in the past few months, inventory of available homes for sale has taken a hit.
Statewide, more than 5-thousand homes were sold in June, that’s up 5.3% compared to June, 2016.
