Statewide Iowa — We are more than a quarter of the way through 2022, and officials say the road death toll in Iowa is already on target to surpass last year’s total of 355 fatalities on Iowa roads.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull says more than 65 people have died on Iowa roads so far this year, a significant increase over the same period in 2021.
Trooper Krull says many fatalities are speed related.
Krull says bad passing is also a major contributing factor.
He says stop signs and failure to yield the right of way are also to blame for many crashes.
Trooper Krull also reminds us to buckle up, put the phone down, slow down and make driving your top priority when behind the wheel.
