Le Mars Man’s Murder Trial To Be Postponed Again

Le Mars, Iowa — There will be no murder trial in Le Mars in January.

In July 2017, the bench trial for 35-year-old Thomas Bibler of Le Mars was postponed to December 18th. Then it was scheduled for Tuesday, January 30th, 2018. Court records now indicate there will be no trial on the 30th, and the new date will be set at a conference scheduled for January 26th.

Authorities say Bibler is accused of fatally stabbing his 27-year-old sister, Shannon Bogh on June 11, 2016.

Bibler entered a plea of not guilty to the charges of First Degree Murder, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, and Going Armed With Intent over a year ago. First Degree Murder is a class A Felony. If convicted, Bibler would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. He has waived his right to a jury trial and will face a bench trial instead, according to court records.
