Four Arrested In Pro-Go Burglary Case

Primghar, Iowa — Four Cherokee men have been arrested after an investigation into a burglary at the Pro-Go Convenience Store in Primghar in August.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation began after store employees arrived for work early on the morning of August 18, 2017 and found evidence that someone had allegedly forcibly entered the store and taken money from a safe.

Deputies say the investigation led them to believe that 22-year-old Dallas Honsbruch, 23-year-old Devon Morales, 18-year-old Austin Leight III, and 18-year-old Travis Steffans, all of Cherokee, were allegedly involved in the break-in.

On December 17, 2017, charges of Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree were filed against the men. Arrest warrants were issued and all of them have since been arrested and booked into the O’Brien County Jail. They tell us that all the suspects have been released on bond and will be required to make appearances in O’Brien County District Court at a later date.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Burglary 3rd Degree charge is a Class D Felony and carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $7500. The Criminal Mischief 3rd degree charge is an aggravated misdemeanor and is punishable by up to two years in prison and a $5000 fine.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that criminal charges are merely an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
