Maintainer Breaks Ground For Third Major Expansion In Four Years

Sheldon, Iowa — Ground was officially broken Tuesday morning for a 28,880-square-foot manufacturing expansion in Sheldon. This marks the third major expansion for Maintainer Corporation of Iowa in the past four years.

The groundbreaking drew dignitaries from the community and beyond to congratulate Maintainer on their expansion project, and to help turn dirt.

Sheldon Mayor Greg Geels spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony on behalf of the City of Sheldon.

Iowa State Senator Randy Feenstra took the opportunity to congratulate not only Maintainer, but the City of Sheldon as well.

SCDC Ambassadors Club President Skip Tanner presented the ceremonial golden shovel to Maintainer President Shelley Morris.

For his part, Morris says he thinks this expansion will be just the first of many expansions on the property.

The new facility is the third major expansion Maintainer has undertaken over the past four years. A 78-hundred square foot building was completed in 2017 in response to increased demand for Maintainer’s line of service trucks and cranes. That expansion came on the heels of a 20,750-square foot addition that was completed in 2015.

According to a Maintainer spokesman, the new facility, which is located on the site previously occupied by RV Central, should increase Maintainer’s production capacity by about 35-percent, and will create about 25 to 30 new jobs to add to Maintainer’s workforce of about 220 people in their Sheldon and Rock Rapids facilities.
