Orab Homecoming Week Starts Monday

Sheldon, Iowa — One of the most beloved traditions of fall is high school Homecoming. This week is Homecoming Week at Sheldon High School and the festivities continue all week long.

Homecoming Week starts Monday, when the high school invites students and teachers to, “Make Yourself at Home,” by wearing your PJ’s to school that day. Also on Monday 9th & 10th grade Football will be at Sibley-Ocheyedan and JV Volleyball will take on West Lyon/Western Christian/Unity Christian at Western Christian in Hull.

Tuesday will be observed as “Home Run” Jersey Day. The 2020 Orab Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during a Coronation Ceremony Tuesday evening at 7:30 at Orab Football Field.

Wednesday’s theme is “Home of the Free,” and will be Red, White & Blue Day. Thursday is set aside as “Your Home,” City Style or Country Style Day.

Friday is the big day of Homecoming Week 2020, with the theme, “There’s No Place Like Home,” and it will be Orange & Black Day, the day for Orab students to proudly wear their school colors. The O’Brien County Cattlemen will be on hand at the high school to grill burgers for lunch on Friday, and the events continue with: a Talent Show at 12:30; the Homecoming Parade at 2:15; at 6:30Pre-Game festivities recognizing all of the Homecoming candidates; 7:00 is kick-off time for the Orab Homecoming Football game which will pit the Orange and Black against Central Lyon/George-Little Rock.

Homecoming Week wraps up on Saturday when the Orab Varsity Volleyball Squad will compete in the Cherokee Tournament, JV Volleyball will be in action at the Unity Christian Tournament, and the week will culminate in the Sheldon Marching Band Contest, which takes place at Orab Field at 7:00 Saturday evening.
