Pair Visiting All 939 Iowa Towns Are In Our Area Now

Northwest Iowa – A pair of Nebraska college students is attempting to visit all 939 incorporated towns in Iowa this summer, and they’re in our area right now.

Seth Varner and Austin Schneider will be juniors at the University of Nebraska-Omaha this fall, and are calling their quest “Visit939Iowa.” Varner tells us where they came up with the idea.

And they did. Schneider tells us about the Iowa effort.

Varner says that as of the beginning of the trip, they had covered 281 of Iowa’s 939 towns, so they’re about a third of the way finished with their trip.

Schneider tells us the plan is to finish up their quest around the time classes start in the fall.

They tell us the amount of time they spend in each town varies, depending on what there is to see there and how many people want to meet them. They encourage people to check them out on Facebook and send them a message if they’d like to meet them, as their times are somewhat variable. But they plan to see basically every town in our coverage area and then some in the days to come.
The students say that some of their funding comes from their jobs, but people have also been very nice and have given them donations and money, and they have a GoFundMe account as well.

Schneider says that some of the trips are sponsored as well.

If you’d like to see the full list of towns and more about their quest, they tell us you can look for Visit939Iowa on Facebook.
