Party Caucuses Scheduled For Monday: Find Locations Here

Northwest Iowa — The 2022 Iowa Caucuses are less than a week away for both major political parties

The caucuses will be Monday, February 7th at 7:00 p.m.

You can find out what precinct you live in using a tool found on the Iowa Secretary of State’s website. Click here. However, many of the precincts are meeting together, with only one or two locations per county.

On the Democratic side, in O’Brien County, the Sheldon precincts (4, 5, and 6) will meet in the basement of the Sheldon Community Services Center. All other Democratic precincts will meet at the courthouse assembly room in Primghar.

Sioux County Democrats will meet at several different locations throughout the county:

Osceola County Democrats tell us that all of their precincts will meet at the Sibley Senior Center at 612 8th Street in Sibley.

Lyon County Democrats say all eight of their precincts will meet together at the Frontier Bank meeting room in George. Just to emphasize, that’s in George (since there are two other Frontier Bank locations in the county). The Frontier Bank meeting room is at 210 East Dakota Avenue in George.

On the Republican side, O’Brien County Republicans say all of their precinct caucuses will be held at the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Middle School at 509 Main Street in Sanborn.

Sioux County Republicans will all meet at the MOC-Floyd Valley High School at 615 8th Street SE in Orange City.

Lyon County Republicans will all meet at the Forster Community Center at 404 First Avenue in Rock Rapids. Note that they will be in the east meeting room. There is another (non-political) meeting in the other room.

And Osceola County Republicans will meet at the Osceola County Courthouse at 300 7th Street in Sibley. They tell us there will also be some people there who are running for office.

The Democrats emphasize in their information that you must be in line or signed in by 7:00 p.m. to participate and that per state party requirements, masks are required and vaccination is encouraged.

Both parties say they will discuss proposed resolutions to be added to the county platform and in some cases decide whether or not to adopt them. Some groups will wait until the county convention to decide which planks to adopt. They plan to elect delegates and alternates to the County Convention and will elect precinct committeepersons to the County Central Committee.

You do have to be registered with the party with whom you plan to caucus, but you can also register at the caucus. If you want to register on caucus night, make sure you bring your ID and proof of residency.
