Queen II To Feature “Legends Series History Cruises” Beginning Wednesday

Arnolds Park, Iowa — If you’re a history buff, Arnolds Park has some cruises aboard the Queen II Excursion boat that might be just the ticket.

Beginning this Wednesday, June 19th, Arnolds Parkwill be holding a series of Queen II Legends Cruises, 2019″. This week’s Legends Cruise will feature two lakes-area gentlemen who will be presenting a program entitled “Two Boats, Two Wrecks, Many Tales.” Arnolds Park Marketing Director Paul Plumb explains.

Plumb says following the session on the “30 Boat” the Queen II will take the group out on West Lake Okoboji.

Miss Thriller was a 16-passenger launch that boasted a pair of 300-horsepower airplane engines, making it arguably the fastest boat on the water at that time. On July 28, 1929, Miss Thriller collided with another excursion boat, the Zipper, with deadly consequences.

In addition to this Wednesday’s program and cruise, another Legends Cruise will take place Wednesday July 10th, and will feature “Lost Resorts of the Iowa Great Lakes.” Another cruise will take place July 24th, and will feature “A Naturalists View of the Lakes.” Then on August 7th, Tom Tourville and Rebecca Peters will be presenting a cruise program called, “Remembering Okoboji’s Roof Garden Ballroom.”
