Residents, Families Happy About Visitation Restrictions Being Relaxed

Sheldon, Iowa — State health officials say many Iowa nursing home residents who wanted the COVID-19 vaccine have been fully inoculated and outbreaks at those facilities are now rare. Many Iowa long-term care centers are relaxing restrictions on visitors.

Sanford Sheldon and Sanford Sheldon Senior Care CEO Rick Nordahl says there are still some restrictions on visits.

Nordahl says the residents and families are happy that they can visit with each other again.

But, Nordahl tells us that we aren’t at the end of the tunnel yet with COVID. In fact, O’Brien County is backsliding just a touch.

Nordahl says there are fewer restrictions for visiting those in assisted living and congregate care.

He encourages everyone to get vaccinated so that we can “get this thing under control.” He says “the sooner we get more people vaccinated, the better off we’re going to be.”
