Rock Valley Prepares For This Week’s “Rally In The Valley”

Rock Valley, Iowa — With concerns being put on the shelf for a few days about what to do in the future after two recent floods, Rock Valley residents are gearing up for their Rally In The Valley celebration this week.

The event begins Wednesday evening with the Miss Rock Valley Pageant at the Rock Valley Community School District auditorium.

Thursday night festivities include a community picnic from 5 to 6:30, a wing eating contest for adults and a powdered donut-eating contest for kids at 6:30, and the Rock Valley Fire Department Fireman’s Challenge at 7.

On Friday, Cruise Night starts at 6:30, with the Ranch Rodeo hosted by the Saddle Club at 7:00. Friday night’s events culminate in the Let’s Glow Crazy Tween Dance for ages 12-15 at the CFE Parking Lot.

Things start off bright and early Saturday, with the Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Station beginning at 7:00 Saturday morning. The Rock River Run at Rivers Bend Campground starts at 7:45 am. There will also be a car show at the City Park, as well as a Vendor Fair, bake sale, food booths, and inflatables at the Catholic Church. The Rally In The Valley Parade begins at 11:00 Saturday morning on Main Street. The big event on Saturday will be a Lifelight concert at the Sports Complex featuring Hawk Nelson, Bread of Stone, BMX stunts, and much more. The Rally in the Valley also features attractions such as the Kiwanis Duck Races, Myers Pedal Pull, a Bean Bag Tournament, a hog roast, and much more on Saturday.

The 2018 Rally in the Valley will culminate with fireworks beginning at 10 p.m. on Saturday night.

Rally In The Valley starts on Wednesday and runs through Saturday, August 11th, in Rock Valley.
