School Districts To Hold Assemblies For Veteran’s Day

Northwest, Iowa — Veteran’s day is quickly upon us. November 11th is a national holiday for the honor of our Nation’s veterans.

We heard that area schools were doing various assemblies, so we reached out to the local schools to find out details on what they are doing. Every school that we could get in contact with did have something planned for Veteran’s day.

The majority of the schools have assemblies on Veteran’s Day itself, which is this coming Friday. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn starts off the Veteran’s Day assemblies on Friday with an assembly at 9:00 a.m. at the High School. Boyden-Hull will have a program at 9:15 in their elementary gymnasium. Sheldon Schools has a Veteran’s Day program at 1:20 in the High School auditorium. South O’Brien and Sibley Ocheyedan both have assemblies at 10 a.m. in their respective High School gymnasium. George-Little Rock is having an assembly, also at 10:00 a.m. in their middle school / high school gym. MOC-Floyd Valley will be having a Veteran’s Day program at 10:15 at the middle school in Alton. Central Lyon schools will have a Veteran’s Day Assembly at 10:30 a.m. at the High School Gym. Harris-Lake Park school district will have a Veteran’s Day program at 1:00 in the High School Auditorium, and West Lyon has the final scheduled assembly for Veteran’s Day at 2 p.m. in the high school gym, and that assembly will also be streamed on their YouTube channel.

A couple area schools are scheduled to not be in session on Friday, November 11th, and they are having assemblies on Thursday, November 10th. West Sioux is having an assembly in the high school at 10 a.m., and Sioux Center is having their assembly in their high school at 10:30 a.m.
