Sex Abuse Trial Of Former School Bus Driver Now Underway

Spirit Lake, Iowa — The sexual abuse trial of a former Okoboji Community Schools bus driver is underway in Dickinson County District Court in Spirit Lake.

Steven Titterington, of Milford, was arrested about one year ago on charges of having indecent contact with a child while employed as a school bus driver. According to online court records, the charges are in connection with incidents that allegedly took place in November of 2021.

Last March, Titterington pled not guilty to charges of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C Felony; Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee, a Class D Felony; and Child Endangerment, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

He was originally scheduled to stand trial last May, but the trial was postponed, and is now underway. Jury selection began last Tuesday, but was then postponed due to impending severe weather. The jury selection was finally completed Friday morning, with testimony in the case beginning Friday afternoon.

Court was recessed for the weekend, with the trial set to resume Monday morning.
