Sheldon City Council To Reopen Discussion About “Yard Art” Car Body In Front Yard

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet this Wednesday, October 2nd at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center, across the street south of KIWA Radio on 9th Street in Sheldon.

On their consent agenda are several items that will all be approved with one vote unless a council member requests an issue to be removed and voted on separately. The consent agenda this time includes the minutes from the last meeting, a list of claims, the approval of a street finance report, a rquest from the O’Brien County Snowtrakcers, a request from the SCDC for a street closure on Monday evening October 14th, the approval of the annual finance report, the approval of a pay application for the Oak Street Project, and the approval of a fire tanker deduct change order.

In new business, the council will hold a public hearing on whether to issue $2.7 million in general obligation capital loan notes for a Western Avenue street project, and may decide whether to issue the notes.

Under old business, the council will consider what to do about what has been called “Yard Art” on the front yard of 523 10th Street, and consists of, among other things, an old car body. The matter was tabled at a previous meeting.

The council will also have a discussion on strategic planning options.

Again, the meeting will be this Tuesday, October 2nd, at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
