Sheldon Council To Choose Mayor At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa – When the Sheldon City Council meets this coming Wednesday they’re expected to appoint a new mayor to fill the position left by the resignation of former mayor Katricia Meendering.

There are four individuals vying for that appointment: Fred Grein; Wayne Barahona; Bob Engel and Greg Geels. Each of the four had submitted a Letter of Interest in the mayor’s position prior to Thursday’s 4:30pm deadline.

At the end of Wednesday’s council meeting each candidate will give an opening statement, followed by Council questions and discussion, then the four will each making a closing statement. Following the closing statements the Sheldon City Council will deliberate and vote for their choice of the four applicants. The council is expected to name their selection and appoint that person as mayor, with the appointment effective as of April 15th.
