Sheldon, Iowa — If you notice some teenage work crews when you travel around Sheldon today (Friday, June 3rd), it’s because Sheldon High School is having a Community Service Work Day, cleaning and sprucing up around the community.
Sheldon High School Instructor Eric Maassen is one of the organizers of the effort, and he says the project is designed to help the students give back to the community.
Maassen talks about what the teens are doing, and where they’re doing it.
He says they have a sizable work force involved in the project.
Maassen says the school hopes to make the Community Service Work Day an annual event.
Maassen says that he, along with teachers Ruth Vogel, Kent De Zeeuw, and Larie De Groot have worked together to get the project organized.
