Sanford Physician Says Help Guard Yourself Against The Flu

Sheldon, Iowa — It won’t be long until the sniffles, aches, and fevers associated with the flu will be making their rounds throughout the area, but a Sheldon physician says there is a way you can lessen the severity of the flu, or even avoid getting it altogether.

Dr. Amy Wingert, of Sanford Sheldon, says it can be as simple as getting a flu shot.

Dr. Wingert says there’s no time like the present to get that flu vaccine.

She says she’s heard people say that the shot actually gave them the flu, but she says that’s not what they’re experiencing.

Dr. Wingert says the vaccine takes about two weeks before it will be completely effective, so she advises that you get the shot sooner, rather than later.
