Sheldon School Board To Use Search Firm In Superintendent Search

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education has decided to utilize a search firm in their hunt for a new Superintendent to replace Robin Spears, who has announced that he will retire effective June 30th next year.

The Board made their decision during a special meeting held Monday evening. Board President Kecia Hickman tells KIWA that the Board used the meeting to decide if they wanted to do a candidate search themselves, or hire a search firm to conduct the search. She says the Board discussed the pros and cons before deciding to proceed with hiring a search firm.

Four search firms had submitted proposals for the Sheldon Superintendent search, but Hickman says the Board will be contacting several search firms for proposals, and intend to set up times to interview those firms before making a final decision on which firm to hire.

Hickman says the Board wants to reach as many candidates as possible, in order to find the best fit for a replacement for Superintendent Spears.
