Sheldon Woman Charged With Burglary/Assault

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon woman is charged with 1st Degree Burglary and Assault Causing Bodily Injury following her arrest Tuesday in Sheldon.

Sheldon police say the charges against 20-year old Kathryn Carroll stem from their investigation into an incident that took place earlier this year at the North Park Apartments in Sheldon.

Cops say their investigation showed that Carroll attempted to enter an apartment on May 8th, and was shouting at the apartment’s female resident to let her in.  Police say when the resident refused, Carroll tore the screen off the entry door, and reached inside, unlocking the door.  Police department officials say Carroll then assaulted the female resident, leaving bruises and red marks.

Online court records indicate that charges were filed in the case on June 6th, with a warrant for Carroll’s arrest issued the next day. That warrant was served, and Carroll arrested, on Tuesday July 25th, by a Sheldon Police Officer.

Court records indicate that Carroll was placed in the O’Brien County Jail at Primghar, but was released the next day when she was able to post bond.

Carroll is charged with 1st Degree Burglary, which is a Class B Felony, as well as Assault with Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor.

Online court records indicate that Carroll will appear in court August 1st at 9:00 am.
