Sheldon’s Newest Hotel Celebrated With Ribbon Cutting Friday

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon’s newest hotel celebrated their grand opening and ribbon cutting on Friday morning, August 4th.

Officials from Cobblestone Inn & Suites and Sheldon dignitaries cut the ribbon at Sheldon’s Cobblestone Inn & Suites in the Sheldon Crossing area near the Crossroads Pavilion Events Center.

Speaking on behalf of the mayor and City of Sheldon was Sheldon City Council Member Pete Hamill.


He went on to tell the Cobblestone folks that Sheldon is thankful for the confidence they have placed in the community. He says that we hope that energy continues.

Trevor Gottula spoke on behalf of the Sheldon Chamber of Commerce.


Gottula also shared that since Sheldon has some great lodging options now, the northwest Iowa contingent with his employer, Edward Jones, plans to meet in Sheldon for their next annual meeting.

Joe Ackerman spoke on behalf of those who built the building.


Tom Kennedy with Diamond Hospitality Services tells us what they do.


Jeremy Griesbach, President of Development for Cobblestone Hotels tells us they are very excited to be in Sheldon.


Denny Michels spoke on behalf of local investors.


Skip Tanner, speaking on behalf of the Sheldon Ambassadors presented a portion of the ribbon and a plaque to Stephane Singletary with Cobblestone Inn & Suites. Tanner reads the inscription:


Singletary tells us what they had to go through to get the hotel open.


Cobblestone Inn & Suites is at 271 34th Avenue in Sheldon. That’s the Highway 18 exit, exit 34 on Highway 60, and then west. Turn left at the stoplight and then the Cobblestone Inn & Suites is right before the Sheldon Crossroads Pavilion traffic circle.
