Sibley Rocks! Joins Rock Painting, Hiding Craze

Sibley, Iowa — A couple of weeks ago we told you about a Facebook group called Sheldon Rocks, which encourages young people to paint small, decorative rocks, and place them around the community.  When the rocks are found, the person who located them is encouraged to post their photo, with the rock, on the Sheldon Rocks Facebook page, then rehide the rock for someone else to find.

Membership in the Sheldon Rocks group has exploded in numbers, with more tthan 700 people joining the group.

Now, the phenomenon has moved north up Highway 60 to Sibley.  The Sibley Rocks! Facebook page, as of Thursday afternoon, has nearly 200 members, and is growing daily.  The purpose of Sibley Rocks! is the same as the group on Sheldon….giving Sibley kids something fun, and constructive to do with their spare time.

Sibley Rocks! members are painting rocks, then securing a tag with their name, and a note encouraging whomever finds the rock to take a photo with it to post to the Sibley Rocks! Facebook page.  Then they are encouraged to rehide the rock, and share the fun with others.
