Sioux County Fair Is Next Week

Sioux Center, Iowa — It’s time to enter exhibits at the Sioux County Youth Fair. And fair fun is just days away.

Sioux County Fair officials tell us that judging of some exhibits starts this Friday, July 8th. The Open Beef Show is scheduled for Saturday, with the Open Sheep Show scheduled for Sunday. Sunday evening is the time for the Queen and Little Miss Coronation. That gets underway at 6:30.

The Sioux County Fair starts in earnest at the fairgrounds in Sioux Center on Monday. There’s a dog show, a rabbit show, the NWIA Youth Classic Open Swine Show, and the “Awardrobe Fashion Show,” as well as the judging of communications events.

Tuesday’s events begin with the first of three days of the fair board breakfast fundraiser. Then, bright and early at 7:30 a.m., it’ll be time for the sheep show, followed by the poultry show and the dairy show. The dairy goat show is next. The Kids Zone will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. At 5, it’s the Livestock Judging Competition, followed by the Horse Show and games.

Kids’ Day is Wednesday. There’s that fair board breakfast fundraiser again. The Horse Show for the pleasure classes is the first event of the day. There’s a pet show, a meat goat show, a bottle and bucket calf show, and a beef show. They’ll also have face painting, the 4-H Working Exhibits, Mr. Twister, the Kids Zone and Barnes Bull Riding in the evening.

The final installment of the fair board breakfast fundraiser takes place Thursday morning. Thursday also holds in store the 4H and FFA Swine Show, and the Super Showmanship Competition. The Kid’s Zone will be open again from 5 to 9 p.m. The Kids Pedal Tractor Pull will be at 5:30, and the ever-popular Greased Pig Contest will start at 6:30.

After the cleanup on Friday morning, the 4-H Ribbon Auction will be held to wrap up the fair festivities.
