SMS Band To Perform Friday For Iowa Bandmasters

Sheldon, Iowa — Back in February we told you that the Sheldon Middle School Band had been invited to perform for the Iowa Bandmaster’s Association Convention in Des Moines.  The convention is scheduled for May 10th through 13th, and the Sheldon Middle School Band will be representing Class 1A and 2A bands when they appear as one of the Association’s honor bands at the convention.

Sheldon Middle School Band Director Jeana Larson says her band will perform later this week.

Larson calls being invited to perform for the Iowa Bandmasters Association Convention a very prestigious honor.

She talks about the audition process for bands to be selected to perform.

Larson says that after the Sheldon Middle School band performs Friday afternoon, they’ll be rewarded with a special lunch, before the bus ride back home to end a long day.

If you’d like to attend Friday’s Iowa Bandmaster’s Association Convention, it is free and open to the public.  The performance is scheduled for 1:00 pm Friday in the Ballroom at the Downtown Marriott in Des Moines.

If you can’t make it to Des Moines Friday, the Middle School Band will be doing sort of a “dress rehearsal” tonight at 7 in the Sheldon High School Auditorium.
