Sheldon, Iowa – After more than five months, students, teachers, and staff in Sheldon eagerly reentered their classrooms this morning. COVID-19 has upset the daily lives and routines of everyone since mid-March, and while precautions still need to be taken, it’s nice to get back some semblance of normalcy.
At Sheldon Middle School, the first day of school begins with an outdoor welcome and flag raising ceremony, and this year is no different in that regard. After students and staff assembled in front of the building, with an arm’s length of distance between everyone, Principal Cindy Barwick welcomed everyone to a new year of learning.
Sheldon American Legion Post 145 was on site to present colors, raise the American flag, and lead those present in the Pledge of Allegiance to start off the school year in a short ceremony at 8:30 am this morning.
