Spend Your Merry Money By Christmas Eve

Sheldon, Iowa — Your time to buy Christmas gifts is dwindling. And the deadline for spending your Sheldon Merry Money is coming up too.

Merry Money has to be spent by December 24th, and it may not be kept from year to year. Merry Money is also not redeemable for cash, and no change is given for a Merry Money purchase. Sheldon Chamber Director Shanelle Matus tells us more.

Since you used your hard-earned money to buy it, she says it would be a shame to waste it.

Matus says she hates to think of the fact that someone could put it away in their wallet and forget about it until after the deadline, and then not be able to spend it.

Each year, the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation partners with the Sheldon banks and Sheldon’s merchants in making Merry Money available to shoppers. The banks take care of printing and marketing costs. The ten percent savings comes five percent from the Sheldon Marketing Committee, and five percent from the merchants.

The $150,000 in Merry Money was sold on November 6th. Again, it must all be spent by Monday, December 24th, or it loses all value.
