UPDATE: State Marching Band Festival At Sheldon Moved To Wednesday

Sheldon, Iowa — Orab Field is the site for this year’s State Marching Band Festival, but it will NOT be held tomorrow, as originally planned. Instead it will be held on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.

Earlier this (Friday) afternoon, school officials had thought Orab Field might be in good enough shape to host the event tomorrow, but at about 3:30 Friday afternoon, with the threat of more rainfall in the forecast, they made the decision to postpone the event.

Sheldon, Iowa — Orab Field is scheduled to be the site for Saturday’s Iowa State Marching Band Festival, and as of now, it’s still on. There was some concern that the football field wouldn’t be in good enough shape for the contest, after the rains of the past few days, but school officials say the festival should be able to go on as scheduled. The field condition is helped by the fact that the Orab Football Team is on the road Friday night, playing at Sioux Center.

Assuming the rains stay away, Marching Orabs Director Cliff St. Clair says the first band will take to the field Saturday morning at 9:00.

The Marching Orabs are taking the show on the road later in the day Satrurday, as they perform in a second marching band festival at MOC-FLoyd Valley High School.

So for now, it’s crossed fingers, and fervent hopes that the rains will stay away so the State Marching Band Festival can be held Saturday.
