Woman Accused Of Stealing From Employer Pleads Not Guilty

Calumet, Iowa — A Calumet woman has facing multiple charges accusing her of misappropriating funds from her Calumet employer — has pled “not guilty” to the charges against her.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies conducted a lengthy investigation into a theft complaint from Calumet Carriers in Calumet. Calumet Carriers is comprised of three businesses: CS Agro, Hicks Electric, and Concrete Guys. In October of last year, the owners of the company contacted the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office after they allegedly discovered evidence of misappropriation of business funds by their Office Manager.

Deputies and the Iowa DCI say that they arrested 32-year old Jamie Riedemann of Calumet in August on an O’Brien County arrest warrant based on numerous charges. According to authorities, the charges against Riedemann include one count of 1st Degree Theft, a Class C Felony, three counts of 2nd Degree Theft, all of which are Class D Felonies, three counts of Theft by Credit Card, two of which are Class D Felonies and one of which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor. There was also one count of Tampering With Records, which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

According to authorities, Riedemann is alleged to have used her position as Office Manager at the business to purchase unauthorized items for personal use, create fraudulent reports that inaccurately showed the number of hours she worked, paid herself for unauthorized claims for reimbursement, and misappropriated company funds to pay for personal expenses. Deputies say she is also alleged to have removed a record from the company’s records management system to cover up one of the thefts. Authorities say the alleged thefts from Calumet Carriers totaled an amount of more than $40-thousand.

After accepting her written arraignment and plea of “not guilty,” District Judge Nancy Whittenburg scheduled Riedemann’s pretrial conference for Tuesday, November 21st, with her jury trial scheduled at this point for Tuesday, December 5th in O’Brien County District Court.
