Sheldon, Iowa – Hands-on learning and fun activities are in store once again for northwest Iowa elementary and middle school students.
“STEM” is a big topic these days in education. “STEM” stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Program Specialist Ben Pullen says Fall STEM Fest 2016 — hosted by Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon and Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach 4-H and Youth Programs — will be held Saturday, November 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at NCC in Sheldon.
Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. in Building A on the NCC campus, with sessions starting at 9:00 a.m. Lunch and snacks are provided throughout the day, and a public showcase will be held at 2:30 p.m.
Pullen highlights some of the activities.
He says other topics will include Rockets to the Rescue; Cooking with Chemistry; Exercise Science; Welding Technology; Dairy Science; Electricity and Magnetism; Building Bridges; and Pottery Puzzles.
Now, registration is FULL for the the Fall STEM Fest, but Pullen encourages students and their parents to watch for information about the Dordt College STEM Fest coming in February of 2017.
