UPDATE: Storm Drops Varying Amounts Of Snow Along With Gusty Winds

Northwest Iowa — In addition to the snow that fell during the Thursday night into Friday morning blizzard, which ranged from 2.5-inches at Orange City to 10-inches in Vermillion, gusty winds combined with the snow to cause the blizzard conditions.

Peak wind gusts reported since Thursday afternoon include 48 mph in Storm Lake, 43 mph in Spencer, 31 mph in Sioux Center, 42 mph at Sibley, 32 mph at the Orange City Airport, and 41 mph here in Sheldon.

Total snowfall amounts included:  2.5-inches at Orange City; 10-inches at Vermillion; Remsen with 7.1-inches; Okoboji with 6.6-inches, Rock Valley with 4.5-inches; Sioux Falls with 4-inches; Spirit Lake with 7.2-inches; Rock Rapids with 5-inches; Hospers with 4.5-inches, Cherokee with 7-inches; Storm Lake with 8-inches; Sioux Center with 5-inches; and Sheldon with 5.5-inches.

The Blizzard Warning that had been in effect was canceled late Friday morning by the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.

Northwest Iowa — The blizzard that came through the region Thursday night into Friday dropped varying amounts of snowfall in the 24-hour period ending at 7 am Friday.

Snowfall amounts that we have heard range from a low of 2.5-inches in Orange City to 10-inches in Vermillion, South Dakota.

Other snowfall amounts include:  Remsen with 7.1-inches; Okoboji with 6.6-inches, Rock Valley with 4.5-inches; Sioux Falls with 4-inches; Spirit Lake with 7.2-inches; Rock Rapids with 5-inches; Hospers with 4.5-inches, Cherokee with 7-inches; Storm Lake with 8-inches; Sioux Center with 5-inches; and Sheldon with 5.5-inches.
