Supervisor Chair Declares O’Brien County Disaster Area

O’Brien County, Iowa — Due to the flash flooding that has taken place throughout O’Brien County, O’Brien County Supervisor’s Chairman Dan Friedrichsen has signed a local Disaster Declaration for all of O’Brien County.

That’s according to O’Brien County EMA Coordinator Jared Johnson. Johnson says he has submitted the local Disaster Declaration to the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department, or IHSEMD. Johnson says he has also requested the activation of the Iowa Individual Assistance program to try and help individuals that have been impaced by the flooding. 

During the noon hour Friday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds’ office annonced that the governor had issued a Disaster Declaration for O’Brien, and thirteen other Iowa counties, including Sioux County as a result of the flooding.
