Two More Deaths, But Only Six New Cases Of COVID Here On Monday

Northwest Iowa — Two new deaths and six new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Monday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

One death was a Lyon County resident, and one was a Sioux County resident. The death toll for the area is now at 163 since the pandemic began. The death totals are 54 in O’Brien County, 62 in Sioux County, 35 in Lyon County, and 12 in Osceola County.

Osceola, O’Brien, and Lyon counties each reported one new case. Three new cases were reported in Sioux County. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since March.

Out of the 1,397 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,248 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 89%.
Out of the 4,631 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,333 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 94%.
Out of the 1,725 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,561 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 90%.
Out of the 654 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 607 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.

Osceola County currently has 35 active cases. There were 110 in O’Brien County, and 114 in Lyon County. Sioux County has 236 active cases. All active case totals are down from last week.
