Two Sioux County Areas Approved For Rural Broadband Grants

Sioux County, Iowa — A pair of broadband grants for Sioux County are among seven grants totaling $1.3 million announced by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.The two projects in Sioux County that will receive the grants are both for Heartland Telecommunications Company of Iowa, and both cover rural areas of Sioux County.

One project that consists of the rural areas surrounding Ireton was approved for a grant in the amount of $303,653.00 and, according to Governor Reynolds, will impact 146 households and 49 businesses.

The second project, which covers the rural areas surrounding Boyden and Hull, was approved for a grant of $436,056.00, and the governor says that project will impact 376 households and 133 businesses.

According to a press release from Governor Reynolds, the initial seven projects represent more than $13 million in new investment in broadband infrastructure covering approximately 760 square miles in twelve Iowa counties.
