Vacation Safety Tips

Sioux County, Iowa — It’s the time of the year when people are planning for, and going on, vacations and other events that keep them away from home for a period time, and one northwest Iowa Sheriff’s Office has published a list of Vacation Safety Tips.

Sioux County Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Van Voorst says there are some things you should do before leaving on vacation.

Van Voorst says you should also resist the urge to post your vacation photos to social media until after you come home.

He offers some other ideas to prevent being the victim of a burglary while on vacation.

Deputy Van Voorst says it’s important to think about how to make your house look lived in BEFORE you leave.
