VNU’s Whitsell Is Finalist For Sioux Center Health CEO Chair

Sioux Center, Iowa — A prominent Sheldon facility official is one of three remaining candidates for a CEO position in Sioux Center.

Barry Whitsell, who is the president and CEO of Villiage Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon has been named one of three finalists for the chief executive officer position at Sioux Center Health.

Monica Sedelmeier, who’s serving as the Interim Chief Executive Officer at Sioux Center Health says that after searching through 49 resumes, phone interviewing 15 candidates and face-to-face interviews with six candidates, the executive board of Sioux Center Health has announced the three finalists for a chief executive officer. She says that each candidate has an excellent educational background, extensive experience to prepare them for the position and the “leadership and personality traits we value in our community and organization.”

Sedelmeier says that prior to Whitsell’s VNU position, he gained valuable experience as the assistant administrator and chief financial officer at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

The other two candidates are from out of the area.

Cory Nelson is the CEO of Genoa Medical Facilities in Genoa, NE. Sedelmeier says he is a seasoned leader with experience as an executive in a number of healthcare settings.

The third candidate is Ryan Meyer, who is the assistant vice president and vice president of operations for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Iowa — a three-hospital system in Cedar Falls, affiliated with the Mercy Health Network. She says his experience in quality, construction, and rural communities has prepared him well for consideration for Sioux Center Health.

All three candidates participated in community and facility tours on Tuesday, July 17 and interviewed with various stakeholders.

Sedelmeier says the announcement of Sioux Center Health’s next CEO is hoped to be in early August.
