Webster City Man Picked To Be Next Central Lyon Superintendent

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A high school principal from Webster City has been selected to be the new superintendent for the Central Lyon Community School District.

The Central Lyon Board of Education offered a contract for the position of Superintendent of School to Mr. Brent Jorth on Monday. Central Lyon officials say Mr. Jorth is currently the high school principal at Webster City Community Schools in Webster City, Iowa. They tell us Jorth received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University in 2002, a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Drake University in 2009 and his Superintendent’s Endorsement from the University of Northern Iowa in 2018.

Central Lyon says Jorth began his teaching career in Baxter, Iowa as a social studies teacher and football and boys’ basketball coach. Jorth then went to Van Meter and Indianola schools as a teacher and coach, followed by administrative experiences at Coon Rapids-Bayard and his current position in Webster City.

According to Central Lyon officials, Jorth will replace Mr. David Ackerman who will be retiring at the end of the current school year. Mr. Jorth will begin his employment with the Central Lyon Community Schools on July 1, 2019.
