Sanford Rock Rapids to be Complete in May ’19

Rock Rapids, Iowa — Work continues on a new $5 million clinic and outpatient facility in Rock Rapids.

Construction on Sanford Health’s new clinic at the corner of Highway 9 and Buncombe Drive in Rock Rapids is on schedule. The 9,600 square-foot facility will be completed in May of 2019.

Tammy Loosbrock, who is Sanford Rock Rapids’ Senior Director says that things have been going really well. She says recently, workers have finished some tree removal along the west side of the property. Prior to that, efforts were concentrated on the parking lot and sidewalks.

There was a delay on the electronic sign out front, but Loosbrock says that the footings and electrical have been put in and that will be going up in the next couple of months as well.

The new clinic, served by the current Sanford Rock Rapids doctors and certified physician assistants will offer extended hours for family medicine by appointment and walk-in, urgent care, OB-GYN, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cardiac rehab and radiology. According to Sanford officials, outreach services will include 3D mammography, cardiology, general surgery, vascular surgery and orthopedics. There are exam rooms for family medicine and outreach services, as well as procedure rooms. A lab draw location is part of the layout of the facility. They say consult rooms will give patients a private location to meet with a variety of providers, including genetic counselors, integrated health therapist and health coaches. Sanford officials say the community room will also provide space for educational opportunities for patients and support groups. Additional space is designated for educational purposes.

Meanwhile, a new hospital and clinic is being built in southwest Rock Rapids that will be run by Avera Health.
