Work To Make Highway 20 A 4-Lane Road To Be Complete This Fall

Northwest Iowa (RI) — If your travels take you southeast into Iowa, especially toward Fort Dodge, Ames, Cedar Rapids or Des Moines, your trip is about to get even easier. The new 4-lane Highway 20 expressway is almost complete.

After years of waiting, the date has been set for the dedication of the completion of the final segment of the expansion of Highway 20 to four lanes in northwest Iowa. The D-O-T’s Dakin Schultz says the event is set for October.

Schultz says there are some final pieces being completed along the highway.

Crews are doing other finishing work east of Moville.

The completion of the final segment will end the work that has gone on for several years to expand Highway 20 to four lanes from Dubuque to Sioux City. More information on the completion celebration will be released as the event gets closer.

During construction, many people from our area had been getting on 20 at its intersection with Highway 71 near Early. But now people will be able to enter from the junction with Highway 59 at Holstein, at Correctionville, or even at Highways 75 and 20 at Sioux City.
