It’s National Cherry Turnover Day!
A cherry turnover is a single-serving portable hand pie made by placing cherry filling onto a piece of light, flaky puff pastry dough, folding it over, sealing the edges and baking or deep-trying it until golden.
Turnovers date back to ancient times and were historically called “portable pies” because they were easy to carry on trips, or outdoors.
