Iowa (RI) — Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, says welcomes the Trump administration’s new Harvest Fuel Relief Program, which will provide up to $8 billion in assistance to farmers facing high diesel prices and production costs.
Hinson also said she has not discussed President Trump’s decision to import diesel fuel from Russia, despite opposing deals with Russia and supporting sanctions legislation approved last month.
Hinson made the comments following a campaign event in Des Moines alongside Alabama Sen. Katie Britt.
Britt praised Hinson’s willingness to confront difficult issues and work toward solutions.
Britt, who at 44 is the youngest woman serving in the U.S. Senate, said elected officials raising families bring an important perspective to Washington.
Hinson faces Democrat Josh Turek and Libertarian Thomas Laehn in the race for Iowa’s open U.S. Senate seat.
