Okoboji, Iowa (KUOO) — Authorities are investigating an apparent drowning on East Lake Okoboji.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the Okoboji Police Department received a report of a missing person on Thursday. A little after 5:30 p.m., someone near the walking docks at Edgewater Plaza reported finding a person in the water.
The individual was retrieved from the water and pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 76-year-old Marsha Bax of Johnston, Iowa.
Authorities say foul play is not suspected, and the incident remains under investigation.
The Dickinson County Medical Examiner, Okoboji Police Department, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire/Rescue and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance assisted on the scene.
