Lake Park, Iowa (KUOO) — The public will get a firsthand look at the new Harris-Lake Park Elementary School Saturday as part of Farmer Appreciation Days in Lake Park.
Superintendent Mike Thompson says they’ll hold a dedication and ribbon cutting, followed by an open house. Everything starts at 1 p.m. at the new school, which sits immediately adjacent to the Middle School-High School building.
Thompson says another special event is planned during Saturday’s festivities.
He says the event marks a major milestone for the Harris-Lake Park Community Schools.
Thompson says Saturday’s event will also give the district an opportunity to thank residents for their support.
Students began attending classes in the new facility in March, earlier than planned after a boiler malfunction at the old school. The start of classes in a few weeks will mark the first full school year in the new building.
