Iowa (RI) — Iowa is among a group of states suing TP-Link Systems, a company that manufactures internet routers.
Attorney General Brenna Bird says the consumer protection lawsuit focuses on the company’s alleged ties to China.
Bird says TP-Link presents itself as independent of the Chinese government.
Bird says the company has the potential to be a big threat to America.
Bird says consumers should be aware of the potential danger.
According to Bird, TP-Link says its routers are secure and manufactured in Vietnam, but she argues the products are assembled using components imported from or through China and utilize firmware that could expose user data and devices.
