Iowa (RI) — The Iowa Business Council’s latest Economic Outlook Survey shows Iowa business leaders remain optimistic about the state’s economy over the next six months.
IBC President Joe Murphy says the survey is based on a 100-point scale.
Murphy says survey respondents continue to show resilience despite ongoing economic uncertainty. He points to increasing expectations for capital spending as one of the most encouraging factors.
Murphy says capital spending often serves as a leading indicator of future economic activity.
The capital spending outlook remains well above the positive threshold at more than 67 points.
The sales outlook declined slightly, but Murphy says it remains strongly positive and reflects confidence in future demand.
Employment expectations fell by about two points but remain above the positive indicator level.
Murphy says attracting and retaining workers remains an ongoing issue for many employers.
The Iowa Business Council is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose 22 members are chief decision makers of some of Iowa’s largest employers.
