(KIWA Staff Photo)Iowa (RI) — Iowa Libertarians will meet Wednesday to nominate two new candidates for the November General Election, replacing nominees judges ruled did not qualify for the ballot.
The rulings upheld a State Objection Panel finding that the party’s lieutenant governor nominee Jules Cutler did not submit an affidavit of candidacy, and that the Libertarian candidate in the Third Congressional District was not qualified because he used a stage name rather than his legal name.
Stephanie Berlin, chair of the Libertarian Party of Iowa, says one of the candidates involved in the appeals process is stepping aside.
The party’s board had originally planned to choose replacement candidates Sunday night, but instead adopted the protocol they’ll use Wednesday to make those decisions.
