Iowa One Call’s Ben Booth says checking for underground utilities is simple.
Booth says the call isn’t optional — it’s required under Iowa law.
He says the 48-hour window does not include the day of notice, Saturdays, Sundays, or legal holidays.
Booth says it’s important to call even if you’re digging in your own yard.
He says striking a pipe or cable without calling can lead to fines — and hitting an electric or gas line can cause serious injury.
