Motorcyclist Suffers Suspected Serious Injuries in Sioux Center Crash

Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Sioux Center.

According to the Sioux Center Police Department, the accident happened shortly after noon at the intersection of Highway 75 and 20th Street Southeast, near Pizza Hut and American State Bank.

Police say a 42-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Highway 75 when the traffic signal changed from yellow to red. As she slowed to a stop, she lost control of the motorcycle.

The driver fell onto the roadway, and the motorcycle continued south through the intersection before coming to rest in the southeast ditch.

She was transported by Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health with injuries classified as suspected serious or incapacitating.

Police listed loss of control and operator inexperience as contributing circumstances. The accident occurred in daylight under clear skies, and the roadway was dry. Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $4,000.

The report did not identify the motorcyclist, and no citations were listed.
