Multiple Vehicle Crash At Barb’s Corner Sends Three People To The Hospital

Everly, Iowa — The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has just released details into a recent collision involving multiple vehicles at the intersection of Highway 18 and 130th Avenue, or Barb’s Corner.

Authorities say 63-year-old Douglas Vonarb of Maple Lake, Minnesota, was driving a 2020 Chevrolet pickup southbound and had stopped at the stop sign. Deputies say 65-year-old Anthony Randall of Lake City, Minnesota, was driving a 2024 Kenworth semi westbound on Highway 18, while a third vehicle, a 2015 Kia Optima driven eastbound by 45-year-old Brenda Collier of Sutherland, was stopped on Highway 18 and was preparing to turn north onto 130th Avenue. Authorities say Vonarb pulled into the intersection and collided with the semi. The impact pushed Vonarb’s vehicle into the one driven by Collier.

All three drivers were taken to Spencer Hospital.

Vonarb was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
