Casey’s Buying Rock Rapids Convenience Store, Moving Current Casey’s Operation To New Location

Rock Rapids, Iowa — There are going to be some changes regarding convenience stores in Rock Rapids.

Back in 2017, the Rock Rapids City Council re-zoned some property around the current Casey’s store in Rock Rapids. Casey’s bought up property in the area, and houses were torn down or moved. A portion of an alley was vacated, and zoning changes were made so that Casey’s could tear down their old store and build a newer, bigger one, and add diesel pumps.

However, since then, there has been no indication of prep work on the site.

Today, KIWA has received official word from Casey’s that they will not be pursuing any more work on that site, and, in fact, they are in the process of moving the store.

Casey’s Director of Communications+Community, Katie Petru, says that Casey’s is acquiring the Junction 9-75 (Sinclair) property in Rock Rapids. That property is diagonally across the Highway 9 and 75 intersection from the current Casey’s store. Petru says, “…we are on track to re-open the store as a Casey’s in early February. The store will be a full-service Casey’s with all our convenience items, quality food, and prepared foods including our handmade pizza, breakfast sandwiches, and bakery items.

She says when that store opens, they will close the current Casey’s location at 709 First Avenue in Rock Rapids. She says, “We look forward to continuing to serve the Rock Rapids community.”
