(KIWA Staff Photo)Orange City, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — PathOne Data Centers will host an informational meeting Monday evening in Orange City to discuss its plans for Sioux County and answer questions from area residents.
According to the Sioux County Auditor’s Office, the meeting runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m. It will be held in the main courtroom on teh second floor of the Sioux County Courthouse at 210 Central Avenue Southwest.
Attendance is limited to 150 people due to courtroom capacity. Registration is required.
Project Details and Potential Impacts
PathOne representatives plan to introduce the company, explain why Sioux County is under consideration, and discuss what a data center is — and what it is not.
The presentation will cover how data centers are built and operated, along with potential impacts involving electricity, water, noise and construction.
Representatives are expected to discuss possible economic benefits, including jobs, tax revenue and other community benefits. PathOne will also outline its anticipated project timeline.
Questions and Open Discussion
A significant portion of the meeting is expected to be reserved for questions and open discussion.
PathOne says residents do not need to support the project to attend. The company adds that whether people are supportive, skeptical, or simply seeking information, they are welcome to participate. PathOne says it believes communities deserve facts, transparency, and respectful conversations.
As of now, Sioux County’s one-year data center moratorium remains in effect.
